Analysis of You're Never Ready by Gillian Fu

Analysis of You're Never Ready by Gillian Fu

I like the story, You're Never Ready by Gillian Fu. The drama script uses common language and words so that it's easy for me to understand.  The playwright makes the storyline well and it is very interesting, it makes the reader curious about what will happen next.

The story You're Never Ready tells the story of a 18-year-old boy named Tristan.  He has a strong passion to participate in a war.  The reason he wanted to go to war was to see the outside world besides his village and want to fight for his country, but there were 2 officers from the army who doubted it because of his young age.

At the beginning of the script there is a dialog :

HENRI
You, boy! Do you know where we can find some eager men to fight for our country in the war?

TRISTAN
You’re looking at one. I am.

The dialogue described that Tristan wanted to take part in a war. It shows that there is hope from one character towards another character. (Hopeful)

In the next section there is a statement "Confused, ALEX butts in."  and dialogue :

ALEX

You’re just a child.

The statement and dialogue stated that Alex felt confused and regarded Tristan as a child to take part in the war. That shows that there is a character's confusion about the situation at that time. (Confused)

The social problem in this story is the lack of trust in someone who is just growing up to do and try new positive things in their lives.  Adolescence should be a time when someone is given the freedom to express and channel what they want.  This can be one of the keys to their success in the future.

As in this drama script there is a dialogue:

HENRI
Hold it there. Don’t be rash.
TRISTAN
I’m not! I know what I want to do and that is get out of this village and see the world.

The statement "Don't be rash" in the dialogue shows that there is Henri's distrust and worry for a teenager, Tristan. (Worried)

Fu as a playwright gives a tendency towards the male characters in the drama script. As in the statement "TRISTAN sprints off, kicking the autumn leaves into the air, making a wirlwind of orange."  The sentence in the statement shows that a man is someone who is manly.

At the end of the story in the drama script I feel happy. Finally, the two forces, Henri and Alex, gave Tristan the opportunity to take part in the war. I believe the desire, confidence and confidence in someone who is a teenager will get good results on the persistence he has done.
